How It Works
Broadband over Power Line, or BPL, uses Power Line Carrier (PLC) technology to provide broadband Internet access through ordinary power lines. A computer (or any other device) would need only to connect to a BPL Modem that is plugged into an electric outlet to have high-speed Internet access. BPL offers benefits relative to regular cable or DSL Internet connections, but is particularly well suited to provide Internet access to the underserved rural customer.
There is no need for cable TV or a phone line in the home or business. All you need for BPL is an electrical outlet. With the use of a BPL Modem, an outlet can become a high-speed Internet port. Just plug the BPL Modem into an outlet and connect the Ethernet cable to your computer or router and you're done. It is just that simple.
